ESCAPE ROOM FAQ

ConTRAPtions Escape Rooms

Frequently Asked Questions

No way! That movie scarred us for life. Think more like Clue or National Treasure. Team up with other members of the group to find the clues, solve puzzles and accomplish the goal, which in a traditional escape room is to, well, escape the room. But we’ve added a new spin on things, so come check it out!

Yes we do! Gift certificates can be purchased at the Gift Card button.

Our rooms are designed for groups ranging from 2-10, with the ideal group size being 4-8. Plight of the Margo does require a group size of at least 4.

Before the game, we ask all players to use the free lockers we provide to store their personal items, including cell phones. If special circumstances such as child care or being on call require you to have your cell phone on your person during the game, we just ask that you do not take any photos inside the room. We like to keep our secrets secret! None of our rooms require any tools, cell phones, previous knowledge, or force to solve the puzzles.

No drinks are allowed into the rooms. Accidents happen.

Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can check you in and explain the game rules to your group. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, the rest of the group may start without you, but you are free to join them as soon as you get here. If the entire group is more than 10 minutes late, they must either forfeit time in their game in order for ConTRAPtions to its schedule, or they may reschedule their group, subject to a reschedule fee equal to 60% of the original booking. Please be aware that because of schedule restraints, we are not responsible for any lost game time due to late arrival.

Mafia Gallery and Tiger’s Eye are 60 minutes, and each half of Plight of the Margo is 90 minutes. For corporate events, we also offer a play-until-you-win option if desired, and if time permits.

Our recommended player minimum age is 5 for most of our games at all locations. The minimum age for Plight of the Margo is 12. Families are welcome and the game is probably most enjoyable for ages 10+. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult in the room. Children under 16 require an adult to remain on the premises.

No special skills, tools, or use of force is needed. This is entirely a brain challenge, and will have even better chances of success when using good communication with your team.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:
6 or more days before the booked date: full refund given
2-5 days before booked date: game credit to come back
Same day: no refund given

For example: if your game is on Saturday and you let us know of a cancellation on Tuesday, you qualify for a refund. If you let us know on Wednesday, you qualify for a game credit to match the value of the cancellation. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or vouchers for same-day cancellations. Same-day cancellations wishing to reschedule are subject to a rescheduling fee equal to 60% of the original booking. Thank you for your understanding.

Please note that a schedule change resulting in a reduction in ticket price is also subject to this policy. A schedule change resulting in an increase in ticket price can be paid for on site at the time of arrival.

Of course! But we don’t recommend that because we may not have availability for your groups at that time. It’s better to pre-book online or call your local ConTRAPtions location.

No, you don’t need to fill a room. Due to Covid, All games are private from 2 to 10 players.

We pride ourselves on being Fort Collins’ only escape room that offers accessible rooms! All main doors, entrances, bathrooms and most of the areas of the puzzles are fully handicap accessible. A person in a wheelchair may not be able to do all the puzzles but they could certainly be part of a group doing the room.

We recommend Mafia Gallery to any guests who utilize a wheelchair, as this is our most accessible room, with all entrances and doorways measuring 32″ or more. A person using a wheelchair may also be able to play Tiger’s Eye, but should be informed that two of the doorways (including the game entrance) are just a couple inches under the requirement for full accessibility. This room also contains a puzzle with a one-step platform, and one area that may not accommodate a standard turn radius.

Plight of the Margo is not an accessible room and the flooring is unsuitable for service animals.

Party at Grandma’s House is accessible but some things may be out of reach.

When Mirror Mansion opens, it will not be accessible.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like more information.

Yes, we have plenty of free parking at our location.

No, we do not physically lock the door. The door is considered “locked” for purposes of the game, but you are free to leave at any time for any reason. If you do step out, please be aware that the clock will continue without you, so we recommend using the bathroom beforehand! We also ask upon your return that you don’t take anything back into the room with you.

Yes we do! All rooms are currently private regardless of how many players.  For team building information…See more info

Not everyone wins, but that is all part of the game! If at first you don’t succeed, you have the option of not finding out how to beat the game if you want to book it for a second try.

Also…If you lose the game, you don’t get a refund! It’s a game.

Scary is considered relative in the sense that not everyone gets scared. There may be jump scares such as a loud noise at an appropriate time but no scary clowns yet. We may have an alien or two lurking about but they won’t hurt you. Our Ghost Asylum, Slaycation and Soul Survivor games can be considered scary because of their themes. They contain light and sound effects and ‘jump factor’ from the moving automation, but no fright factor. Plight of the Margo does contain some scary thematic elements that may not be suitable for small children.

All of our rooms are designed to be challenging, engaging, and fun (and they will definitely get your heart beating faster!)
